Two Israeli Embassy Staffers from DC—Reported to be Followers of Yeshua—Murdered in Antisemitic Terror Attack

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray in the aftermath of a tragic antisemitic shooting Wednesday night in Washington, DC. Intercede not only for the families and friends of the victims but for the end of increasing hatred toward Jewish people worldwide.

Two Israeli embassy staff members—Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim—were shot and killed during an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington. The event was held for young diplomats and Jewish professionals, to address humanitarian crises in the Middle East and North Africa, according to All Israel News.

A pro-Palestinian man is in custody after allegedly killing Yaron and Sarah, a young couple soon to be engaged. Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S., explained, “The young man purchased a ring this week with the intention of proposing to his girlfriend next week in Jerusalem. They were a beautiful couple who came to enjoy an evening in Washington’s cultural center.”

Law enforcement officials described the attack as "targeted" and said the suspect shouted "Free, free Palestine" as he was being detained. The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime, a law enforcement source said. The suspect is reportedly a member of a radical left-wing group advocating on behalf of Palestinians.

Chairman of Christians in Defense of Israel Mat Staver said, “We extend our prayers to the families of the victims. Their lives were tragically cut short by this needless hatred. We must not tolerate antisemitism in America or anywhere in the world.”

Turning Against Israel

Joel Rosenberg, an American-born Messianic Jew living in Israel, spoke at the Calvary Chapel Association (CCA) East Coast Pastors Conference Wednesday, held at CC Philadelphia, PA. Joel, who runs the All Israel News website, noted that two-thirds of the Bible is about Israel.

He contended that there are seven reasons why young evangelicals are turning against Israel:

  1. Young people are not getting sound biblical teaching from their parents and grandparents, who are ambivalent about the importance of Israel.

  2. Young people are not getting sound biblical teaching in their churches, led by pastors who don't teach the Bible.

  3. They are being brainwashed by social media and the news media about Israel.

  4. Young people are not hearing evangelical pastors expressing empathy for the Jews.

  5. Christian high schools and seminaries are not teaching God's plan for Israel.

  6.  Parents are allowing their children to attend public schools that teach and foster antisemitism.

  7. Many children of evangelical parents are not truly born again and are unable to stand against the avalanche of propaganda coming at them through their schools and social media.
